Shockwave Therapy (EPAT ®)

Shockwave Therapy  (or Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology) is an FDA-approved treatment modality for musculoskeletal disorders that is often used in conjunction with Magnetic Therapy. It utilizes acoustic pressure waves to safely and non-invasively enhance blood circulation, stimulate metabolic processes and accelerate healing. 

Excellent results have been obtained using Shockwave Therapy to treat disorders involving muscles, tendons, ligaments and bones whether in acute and chronic phases. Areas and examples of conditions that can be treated include

• the spine (myofascial trigger points, low back and neck strain)
• upper extremities (frozen shoulder, golfer/tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome)
• lower extremities (bursitis of the hip, ACL/PCL sprain, Achilles strain/tear, shin splints, stress fractures, plantar fasciitis)

Treatments sessions are brief.  Patients often report improvement in pain levels after as few as two or three visits. Over 80% of patients treated with EPAT® report a significant reduction or total elimination of pain upon completion of their treatment plan.
